The Parents for Mahar Students' Group's current members include:  Kristine Goody, Ann Degnan, Cindy Vescovi, Michelle Zeman, Terri McGrath, Kim Emond, Cheryl Calcari, Sue Richardson, Betsy Bergantino, and Jenn Berry.

The Parents for Mahar Students' Group meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month from 6:00-7:00 P.M. in the Middle School Teachers Room near the Middle School entrance. Meeting dates and times can also be found on the monthly school calendar.

The group's objective is to provide support to benefit the students and staff at the school and to assist with the process of continuing to build a better Mahar.

Our past projects include raising and donating the funds to purchase a new set of Encyclopedia Britannica for the school library, sponsoring the Connect-ED program for the first six months, and providing scarves for the Mahar cheerleading squad. We provide shopping services for the Home Economics Department and have recently completed a portable school store. See below for more details.

The Parents for Mahar Students’ Group had a busy 2006-2007 school year.  They completed and mailed hundreds of Student Directories to participating families.  Construction of the Portable School Store was completed just in time for the basketball season, and it has been a great success.  The Parents’ Group web page and eStore were launched in 2006 with the help of Dr. Namin. This web page has been a valuable addition for our Parents’ Group, offering us a new venue for informing families about our programs and fundraisers.

§   MAHAR BASEBALL SCOREBOARD FUNDRAISER*:  The Parents for Mahar Students’ Group will be selling refreshments at Mahar home baseball games and boys track meets this season, in addition to selling items from the portable school store.  The Parents’ Group made a $200.00 donation to the Mahar Baseball Program’s scoreboard fundraiser in spring 2007.

§    SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: The Parents for Mahar Students’ Group hosted a Mahar Scholastic Book Fair in November 2007, where students, families, and staff were able to purchase books and help Mahar earn free books for the School Library.  We would like to thank everyone who participated for helping make the Book Fair a huge success.

§    STUDENT DIRECTORIES The Parents for Mahar Students’ Group has distributed 2007-2008 telephone directory to participating Mahar Regional School families. The purpose of the directory is convenience for making social arrangements, and to inform parents of any upcoming meetings, events, or fundraisers. If you have any questions regarding the directory, please email us at PFMS_Group@hotmail.com or call the school at 978-544-2542 Ext. 280 and leave a message for the parents group.

§    QUABBIN VALLEY VOICES ARTICLE: The Parents For Mahar Students' Group were featured in an article for the October Issue of Quabbin Valley Voices, a free monthly newspaper.

§    SCHOOL STORE: Thanks to the hard work and generosity of the Vescovi Family, County Line Lumber, Smith Painting, the Donelan Family and others, our Parents' group has built a portable Mahar School Store which will be open during sporting events and school functions.  The store carries items such as t-shirts, pullover and zip sweatshirts, sweatpants, shorts, hats, scarves, blankets, shoe bags, and more.  You will also be able to purchase team photos from local photographers Mike Phillips and Dale Lougee.  A portion of the proceeds from the store sales will go to the Parents for Mahar Student’s Group to be used for the benefit of students and staff at the school.  Please look for us at upcoming events.

§    MIKE'S PHOTOGRAPHY*: Mahar sport's team photos may be purchased through our eStore and portable school store.  Some individual action photos may be purchased by visiting http://www.athol.net/photos, please send your order by email to PFMS_Group@hotmail.com.  Be sure to include the photo number, number of prints, photo size, and the game or event where the photo was taken.  Photo sizes and prices are available at the school store and on Mr. Phillips’ site.  Payments should be made to: Parents For Mahar Students' Group.

§    MAHAR BLEACHER FUND DONATION:  The Parents for Mahar Students' Group made a $200.00 donation to the Mahar Bleacher fund in memory of Kyle Flood from the proceeds of selling flowers to students and staff on Valentine’s Day 2007.

§    CONNECT ED: The Parents for Mahar Student’s Group helped get Connect Ed online by sponsoring the program for the first six months.  The Connect-Ed system enables Mahar to communicate with parents, students, and staff within a few moments.  This program was meant to be a link to information for parents and students with Mahar and has proved to be most invaluable.

There are various fundraising programs available for supporters of Mahar to participate in and assist in raising funds for Mahar and our students. Join other families in raising money for vital school programs.
