                                                        DOING THEIR PART

To help the Mahar Key Club in their canned food drive for Thanksgiving, seventh graders in the “Lincoln” and “Jefferson” houses at Mahar Regional School competed to see which house could bring in the most canned goods and the most pennies and other change for the purchase of turkeys. Final results have not been announced yet, but the penny drive collected $666. The teachers used some of that money to purchase 36 frozen turkeys to be donated to the Key Club baskets. In addition, the seventh grades brought in 975 pounds of canned and non-perishable food for the drive. The challenge between the two “houses” was initiated by math teacher Carole Normandin. Above, the Jefferson House students show some of the turkeys purchased for the community food baskets. In the middle of the group is Superintendent Dr. Reza Namin.
